VIVA – Fact rain meteor from earth. When you wish on a shooting star, you are actually offering your hopes and dreams to a tiny piece of space rock that burns up as it falls through Earth’s atmosphere.
Known as meteors, these brilliant streaks of light have fascinated humans for centuries, especially when arriving meteors give off a blazing spark of light during the fall of a meteor or during the passage of a meteor.
Scientists have known since the mid-1800s that nearly all meteor showers are born from icy comets. When one of these meteors from outer space enters the interior of the solar system, heat from the sun causes the ice on the comet’s surface to turn from ice to gas, a process called sublimation. This is what produces the comet’s beautiful tail.
As the ice evaporates, the comet releases dust, sand-grain size particles, and even some boulder-sized chunks of rock that remain behind. With each orbit, that process creates a stream of debris along the comet’s path that persists long after the dirty ice ball returns to the edge of the solar system.
In some cases, when the earth crosses a stream of debris during its rotation around the sun. The rock shards hit the Earth’s atmosphere and burned, creating a spectacular display in the sky. not only on earth meteor showers also occur on Mars.
Here are some facts about meteor showers on earth, as quoted from various sources as follows:
