We brush our teeth twice a day and floss regularly to keep them beautiful and healthy. However, we are sometimes guilty of certain habits that actually damage our teeth. Which are those? Here it comes:
1. You are not drinking enough water
If you don’t drink enough water, you won’t be doing your teeth any favors. Dry mouth can lead to enamel loss and sensitive teeth. Try to drink two liters of water a day and avoid caffeinated drinks as much as possible.
2. Nail biting
If you need another reason to keep your hands away from your face, we’ve got it. Nail biting can seriously damage your teeth. If you bite your nails, you put unnecessary stress on your jaw and wear the enamel on your teeth.

3. Brushing your teeth too hard
To keep your teeth beautiful and healthy, it is very important to brush your teeth well and regularly. Make sure you don’t skip it. Brushing your teeth too often and too hard can cause you to brush off the protective enamel layer on your teeth. If you don’t have that layer, you can get cavities faster.
4. Brushing too soon
While we’re on the subject of brushing your teeth, how long do you brush your teeth? If you’re in a rush in the morning, it may be tempting to brush your teeth really quickly. But try to take time for your teeth anyway. Brush them twice a day for two minutes.
5. Chew on ice
One detests it and the other does it without a problem: chewing the ice cubes in your drink. When you chew on ice cubes – especially if they are very large – you have to chew really hard to get that ice cube small. In some cases, you can even break a filling if you chew too hard. Plus, if you chew ice cubes frequently, you can also get jaw pain or sensitive teeth in the long run. So don’t do it anymore!
6. Smoking
We probably don’t need to tell you that smoking is bad for your teeth. Smoking can stimulate the production of plaque. You can also get unsightly stains on your teeth.
7. Using your teeth as a ‘tool’
Chances are everyone has done this at some point: you don’t have scissors to hand, so tear off the tape with your teeth. You may think that this is not so bad for your teeth, but the opposite is true. You can seriously damage your teeth with it and also hurt your mouth.
