In this negotiation, the 14 IPEF participating countries*, including the United States, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Vietnam, and India, are negotiating with the goal of achieving results within the year in the areas of Pillar 1 (trade), Pillar 3 (clean economy), and Pillar 4 (fair economy). Continue with focus. Our government will participate in the negotiations by forming a government delegation with over 20 ministries, led by Director of Trade Negotiation Office of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Noh Geon-ki as the chief representative.
IPEF participating countries plan to engage in negotiations after sufficient domestic consultation, expand the scope of agreement in areas where the stakes are not high, and find ways to reach agreement on key issues.
Director Geon-ki Noh said, “As the negotiations have progressed considerably so far, we expect that each participating country will exercise flexibility and significantly reduce issues,” adding, “Through IPEF, we will enable our economic entities to operate under more stable and transparent conditions in the Indo-Pacific region.” “We will do our best to negotiate until the end,” he said.
