Somehow all of this is unsatisfactory for some of the people in charge. Like in Dortmund, where managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke has been making demands for full stadiums for a long time. One can therefore assume that Watzke will have followed the decision of the Hamburg Senate on Tuesday (21.09.2021) with pleasure.
HSV can fill the stadium – and do without
The second division clubs Hamburger SV and FC St. Pauli are allowed to use their stadiums to full capacity again under 2G conditions, so the gist of the judgment. Theoretically, 57,000 fans would have been allowed into the stadium at HSV’s home game against 1. FC Nürnberg on Sunday (September 26th, 2021).
But the hamburgers were not entirely comfortable with that. So they quickly announced that they would prefer to hold the home game against Nuremberg under 3G rules.
FC St. Pauli plays away at the weekend, but has kept a low profile anyway. “We don’t know whether people are already comfortable with an incredible number of spectators, or whether we still have to take some measures to first open and fill the stadium step-by-step to enable “said club president Oke Göttlich.
