69% of tourists who come to Elche are nationals | Radio Elche

The Elche Tourist Office has attended a total of 4,337 people, since it reopened on June 15. During the month of June, 566 visits were registered, 1,955 in July and 1,816 in the first half of August. Of the total visitors, 3,003 come from national tourism, while 1,334 are foreign.

He Councilor for Tourism Development, Carles Molina, has highlighted that although the tourist data for this year are not comparable with previous years, since the situation is totally different, he stressed that they are positive and that “the trickle” of tourists demanding information about the city is constant.

They mostly come from the own Valencian Community, Madrid, Catalonia and the Basque Countryor, while the foreigners move almost entirely from France. Although there are also a significant number of people from Elche who visit the office to obtain information on cultural or leisure activities.

Despite the fact that this year some attractions such as the train are not available to the public, since August 3, the guided tours service, which had been suspended for security reasons. It is a family audience that wants to know the city and its resources such as the Palmeral, museums, activities for families, leisure or gastronomy.
