We are giving certainty to the population, because with the vaccine, even if they get sick with influenza, their health will not get complicated “Said Carlos Hurtado, Headquarters Epidemiology manager.
Regarding the number of positive cases for influenzasaid that, to date, there are a total of 1,437 reported, of which 572 cases are active. Likewise, there are 38 hospitalized patients, 12 in intensive care units and 5 people have lost their lives due to complications from the disease.
“Although cases of influenza are increasing day by day, Vaccination has allowed first and second level health centers to not be saturated todayclarifying that the 5 reported deaths are people who were not vaccinated, had underlying pathologies and attended the health service late,” said Hurtado.
Coqueluche and Covid-19
Regarding the cases of coqueluche, Hurtado said that in epidemiological week 21, the coqueluche has presented a new upturn with 24 positive cases in the last week.
The doctor recalled that this disease can cause problems in the child population, mainly in children under 5 years of age, for which he urged parents of relatives to have their children vaccinated.
Regarding Covid-19, he said that there is a slight rebound in cases, but the disease is under control, just like dengue.
