6757 new infections, but average increases compared to last week

Up to 10:00 this morning, 6757 new confirmed corona infections were reported to the RIVM. That is 1,497 less than yesterday.

On average, the number of positive corona tests is rising: an average of 7,157 positive tests per day were registered last week. That is 4 percent more than the week before.

In the fight against the corona virus, an estimated 3.2 million injections have been taken by the Ministry of Health. This concerns the number of injections, not the number of vaccinees.

The number of vaccinated is behind the original schedule. The forecast of the number of vaccinees was revised downwards in mid-March.

2582 corona patients in hospital

Occupancy increased in hospitals. There are now 2582 people with corona in hospital (yesterday: 2517), of whom 794 in the ICU (yesterday: 788), reports the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS).

20 deceased covid patients

20 deceased covid patients were reported to the RIVM. Yesterday there were 17. In the past seven days, RIVM registered an average of 23 deaths per day, against 22 deaths per day a week earlier.

Fewer deaths are reported to RIVM on weekends. As a result, these figures are almost always lower on Sundays and Mondays than in the rest of the week.

How the number of deaths develop depends in part on the number of infections in nursing homes. There are now 181 nursing homes where at least one corona infection has been diagnosed in the past two weeks. A week ago there were 189.
