67 members of the University in the top 2% of scientists in the world

The dynamic presence of the University of Ioannina in the international scientific field is confirmed by Stanford’s “World’s Top 2% Scientists List”, which is based on the impact of the scientific work of scientists from around the world both for their entire academic career and for the year 2023.

The lists are prepared every year by a special team at Stanford University and the publishing house Elsevier and celebrate the top 2% of scientists from around the world. The published lists list the top 100,000 scientists from 22 scientific fields. In this percentage, 51 Professors of the University of Ioannina are included according to the influence of their published work for their entire academic career, and 45 appear in the annual list for 2023. The total number of special members of the University of Ioannina that will appear in the Stanford lists for 2023 comes to 67, a very high number that ranks our Institute in the first positions of the relevant ranking of HEIs in the country.

The assessment is the result of the calculation of factors such as the total number of citations, the h-index and the number of citations with and without self-citation, using the Scopus database of the large publishing house of scientific publications Elsevier.

The quality and impact of the research work of members of the academic and scientific community remains the best ambassador of our University and is very visible in prestigious global rankings and evaluations of educational and research institutions.
