CIAMISKOMPAS.com- A total of 66 students in the District niceWest Java fell from a bridge into a river while waiting to be photographed using a drone, Friday (25/3/2022).
Allegedly, the bridge was not strong enough to withstand the load resulting in the sling detaching from its hook.
“If one person (weight) is 50 kilograms multiplied by 66 people. It’s three tons. Sitting on one side of the bridge, the hook is not strong, said Sukamaju Village Head Dede Rahman, Friday.
He said the collapse of the bridge was not due to a workmanship error.
“Concrete doesn’t matter,” he said.
Starting from the event to welcome the month of fasting
Dede said that the incident occurred on Friday (25/3/2022) at around 10.00 WIB.
At first, a number of students and students of Al-Huda Junior High School held an upload event to welcome the holy month of Ramadan around the location of the incident.
“They meliwet (make liwet rice) together,” said Dede.
After that the santri and students climbed onto the bridge and waited to be photographed using a drone.
Their position is lined up next to each other on one side of the bridge.
“It extends on one side of the bridge, the left side. The bridge is unbalanced, sways. The sling hook is not strong enough. Then it collapses on the other side,” explained Dede.
The collapse of the bridge made the students fall from a height of three meters and plunged into the Cileueur River.

The bridge hasn’t been inaugurated yet
According to Dede Rahman, the collapsed bridge had not yet been inaugurated.
“This is a new bridge, not yet inaugurated,” he said.
The bridge is 33 meters long and 1.2 meters thick and was built with provincial grants.
The bridge crosses the Cileueur River and connects the Desa Hamlet with Bangunsirna Hamlet, Sukamaju Village.
Not only that, the bridge is also used for agricultural routes.

“Initially there was no road. After farming, people had to cross the river. I was worried because the Cileueur River (Debit) had big water,” said Dede.
According to him, at the mouth of the suspension bridge has been given a cross so that it is not used first.
At the time of the incident, he said, there were officers from the village office who wanted to check the condition of the bridge. But sadly, the bridge has collapsed.

Flee to RS
After the incident, a number of students who were victims of the collapse of the suspension bridge were rushed to the hospital.
The Head of Medical Services at the Ciamis Hospital, Bayu Yudiawan, said that four victims were taken to the hospital.
Two people suffered minor injuries so they were allowed to go home.
“The other two are undergoing observation for 6 hours,” he said.
The two victims suffered head injuries.
