On Wednesday afternoon (July 27) at around 1:30 p.m., a traffic accident involving two vehicles occurred on Dornheimer Weg between Darmstadt and Griesheim, in which a 65-year-old was fatally injured.
As far as we know, the 65-year-old was driving his gray Volkswagen from Darmstadt towards Griesheim. A 60-year-old drove his blue Skoda in the opposite direction. According to initial investigations, the 65-year-old came into the curve area with his car on the opposite lane, whereupon the two cars collided. The 65-year-old from the Darmstadt-Dieburg district suffered such serious injuries that he died at the scene of the accident. The 60-year-old man from the Groß-Gerau district was taken to a hospital with serious but, according to current knowledge, not life-threatening injuries. To clarify the exact cause of the accident, an expert was consulted at the request of the public prosecutor’s office in Darmstadt. In addition to the rescue service, the fire brigade and several police patrols, a police helicopter was also deployed. The roadway in the area there was completely blocked for the accident recording. Both vehicles had to be towed. According to initial conservative estimates, the damage amounts to over 20,000 euros.
