Samsung has announced the arrival of new LPDDR5x memories, which have several advantages over existing LPDDR5 – they are faster, more efficient and can be offered in higher capacities. Smartphones can theoretically be equipped with up to 64 GB of RAM.
Smartphony s 64 GB RAM?
We do not expect any smartphone manufacturer to use the maximum possible capacity in the near future, but we may see 32 GB of RAM on some gaming phones. With the new chips, ordinary smartphones will primarily use their other benefits, ie higher speed (increase from 6.4 Gb / s to 8.5 Gb / s) and 20 percent lower consumption.
It can be assumed that we will be the first to see the new memories in the upcoming Galaxy S22 series smartphones, but they will also be seen in other types of devices – notebooks, servers, cars and, according to Samsung, also in the metaverse. The Korean giant is ready to start mass production, but its scope and timing will depend on market needs.
