6,396 new cases and 42 deaths are reported in 24 hours – El Financiero

In the last 24 hours, Mexico registered 6,396 infections and 42 deaths from COVID-19.

According to the technical report of the Ministry of Health, to the court this Saturday June 11the country accumulates 5 million 821 thousand 262 positive cases and 325 thousand 186 deaths from coronavirus.

The agency explained that, to this day, 39,117 active cases of the virus have been detected, which are found predominantly in the following entities: Baja California Sur, Mexico City, Sinaloa, Yucatán, Quintana Roo, Colima, Nuevo León, Aguascalientes, Nayarit and Baja California.

Regarding the accumulated cases of COVID-19 in the country, the entities with the highest number of infections are: Mexico City, State of Mexico, Nuevo León, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Tabasco, San Luis Potosí, Veracruz, Puebla and Sonora, which make up 65 percent of total cases.

“This increase in cases is due to omicron subvariants as the virus mutates” which, he explained, “makes it more contagious” while there are still “susceptible” people.


“It is true that there is an increase in cases, but it has not reached the levels of previous waves. The number of deaths is expected to be lower due to the advancement of vaccination,” she added.

The specialist recommended resuming the sanitary protection measures that existed when the virus appeared in Mexico to contain the new wave.
