On Tuesday (April 11), police officers were called to a Burscheid gas station on Höhestrasse at around 1:00 p.m. after an obviously drunk woman bought a bottle of vodka, got into her car and drove off. Thanks to the witness, who was able to remember the vehicle’s license plate number, the 63-year-old woman was tracked down a little later at her home address in Wermelskirchen.
Police found the woman showed signs of alcohol consumption. She admitted driving drunk to the gas station. A voluntary breath alcohol test showed a value of around 2.7 per thousand.
The suspect was taken to the Burscheid police station to have a blood sample taken, which was also voluntary. Then she was allowed to leave the station again. Her driver’s license was confiscated and she was banned from driving any motor vehicle that requires a license. She now faces a drunk driving charge. The police have started an investigation into this case.
