VALENCIA (EP). The results of the IV Barometer on satisfaction with public services, promoted by the Urban Services Observatory (OSUR), show an increase in the global satisfaction index for municipal services, going from 57 percent recorded in 2019 to 63 in 2022.
The number of dissatisfied people also fell by four percentage points and there was a general decrease in the most critical positions, while the very positive and indifferent ones increased, the latter especially in cities with traditionally good results, according to the data provided. Water supply remains the most appreciated public service in Spain, with 74% positive evaluations and only 11% dissatisfied people.
The results of this fourth edition of the Barometer are the result of a survey conducted by ODC among 5,210 people to reflect the opinion of citizens of the 30 most populated cities in the country, such as Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia , Seville, Zaragoza, Malaga, Murcia , Palma de Mallorca, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Bilbao, Alicante, Córdoba, Valladolid, Vigo, Gijón, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Vitoria, A Coruña, Granada, Elche, Oviedo, Terrassa, Badalona, Cartagena, Jerez de la Frontera, Sabadell, Móstoles, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Pamplona and Alcalá de Henares.
According to the results, there is a general improvement in municipal services, in particular green care services and public space conservation and street cleaning, which go from 37 percent of positive reviews to 55 and 52 percent respectively.
With 74 percent, the water supply is the service most appreciated by the Spaniards. More than seven out of ten people are satisfied and only 11% express their dissatisfaction.
Compared to the previous edition, the most appreciated aspects of the service have been maintained: operational management (proper functioning of the meter, pressure, continuity of service) and the quality of the water supplied.
Secondly, the public transport and mobility service achieves an average satisfaction rate of 60 percent, three percentage points more than in the previous 2019 barometer.
The dissatisfied represent 16 percent, one percentage point less than in 2019. The state of cleanliness and conservation of public transport means and the frequency of buses are the aspects best evaluated, with 59 percent satisfied, even if in a drop of 13 percentage points compared to the 2019 results. The fluidity of vehicular traffic and the price, which is very close to the approved one, also improve.
Waste and garbage collection gets 60% positive opinions and 18% dissatisfied users. What is most appreciated by users is the frequency of the waste collection service and the service of containers for differentiated collection.
The care of green areas and the conservation of public spaces and sports facilities occupies fourth place, in order of evaluation, and rises by 18 percentage points to 55.
The number of dissatisfied people has improved, from 26 percent in 2019, to the current 21. The highest score, with 55 percent satisfaction, is obtained from the quality of the structures, but the rest of the aspects examined move around 45 percent of satisfied and much less dissatisfied people (-20 percent).
After all, there is street cleaning, despite the fact that it has risen by 15 percentage points compared to 2019, with 52 percent satisfied and 27 percent dissatisfied, ten percentage points less than the previous barometer.
