62-Year-Old Brooklyn Woman Arrested for Setting Elderly Neighbor on Fire in Dispute Over Money

Denise Wylie, a 62-year-old woman, was arrested and charged on suspicion of setting her elderly neighbor on fire in a fight over money in Brooklyn (NYC).

The 73-year-old victim apparently had not paid Wylie the money she owed him and on Sunday she went to collect from him at his downstairs apartment on Chester St. near Riverdale Ave. in the Brownsville neighborhoodThe NYPD said yesterday.

The unidentified elderly man said he did not have the money, but promised he would pay Wylie the next day, authorities added. The snub infuriated the suspect, who allegedly He poured gasoline on his face and back and lit a matchsaid NYPD.

The man was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital burn center, where he is being treated. Police arrested Wylie on Monday and charged her with attempted murder at an arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court.

Days later, an MTA employee and military veteran was arrested for shooting and killing his tenant when he found him masked inside his apartment in Brooklyn (NYC). The suspect did not have a license to carry weapons.
