Essential workers who worked during the pandemic in the United States will receive a $600 check. To continue; the details.
A before and after marked the COVID-19 pandemic for the history of humanity. The crisis generated by this disease led to a considerable impact on the population.
Luckily, there were not a few people who offered their services in pursuit of a common good, such as overcoming this crisis. We are talking about essential workers who helped to solve the effects of the pandemic.
In the United States, some of these people will receive a check for $600.00 USD, as a bonus for their work in those difficult years.
In addition, $670 million dollars will be distributed by the United States Department of Agriculture, corresponding to the Program of Assistance Grants for Agricultural and Food Workers.
Said money must go to fourteen non-profit organizations and one tribal entity. Therefore, checks for $600.00 USD will be issued as a one-time payment for eligible agricultural and food workers.
¿CHow can farm and food workers qualify for payments?
The first thing they need to do is show that they were on the front lines in the United States during the public health emergency. That is, from January 20, 2020 to March 11, 2023, dates on which the pandemic officially lasted.
In addition, applicants must provide identification and proof that they were employed during that period.
Thus, the identifications can be in the form of a driver’s license or foreign passport. Farmworkers may include those employed in meatpacking industries or grocery stores.
However, they will not need to show proof of US citizenship or legal status to receive the funds.
It is valid to clarify that the payments arise from an initiative called Help for agricultural and food workers. All this as part of funds from the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021. In this way, the objective is that these workers obtain their payments by October 2024.
