600 Kilos of Cocaine Found in Port of Rotterdam: Public Prosecution Service Reports

Customs found 600 kilos of cocaine in the port of Rotterdam last night. The drugs were in a container with bananas from Ecuador and had a street value of 45 million euros. The batch of cocaine has now been destroyed, the Public Prosecution Service reports.

After the arrest of nineteen thieves last week, security and the number of checks have been increased. “Last night it was a hit,” the Public Prosecution Service writes. The HARC team, a collaboration between the seaport police, customs, FIOD and the Public Prosecution Service, is conducting further investigation.

More than two weeks ago, the HARC team made an even larger discovery of almost 1,200 kilos. This happened during a regular check-up. Even then, the drugs were transported among a shipment of bananas from Ecuador.
