Every now and then the Möllner Landstrasse in Hamburg-Billstedt, when a storm passes over the east of the city. In May 2022, for example, the street was under water, knee-deep, in May 2018 it looked similar, and the street a few meters further, in Oststeinbek, was hit particularly badly in July 2016. A storm turned it into a river.
For a short time on Wednesday afternoon, after extremely heavy rainfall, enormous masses of water once again flooded the Möllner Landstrasse. So much rain fell on the asphalt in a short space of time that the sewage system could no longer absorb the water – it even bubbled up from the drains. Cars had some difficulty making their way through the floodwaters, which then receded quite quickly.

There was also a smaller operation on Barsbütteler Weg, as a fire brigade spokesman confirmed to the Abendblatt upon request.
