60% of the population has the complete anti-Covid-19 vaccination regimen

La Paz, 21 November 2022 (ABI). – The comprehensive vaccination scheme against Covid-19 in Bolivia has reached 57.1% of the population, while the first doses already covered 68.1% of people, Health and Sports Minister Jeyson Auza highlighted on Monday .

“To date, speaking of Covid-19, we have achieved 68.1% of vaccinations as a percentage with the first doses, and with a complete scheme 57.1% speaking of the general population”, said the authority at a press conference .

On January 29, 2021 Bolivia started the vaccination campaign with immunization for health personnel. Then the process was extended to the weakest segments of the population, i.e. to those over the age of 18 and over the age of five.

To deal with the disease, the government administered 24,419,220 doses of vaccines from the suppliers of Sputnik-V, Sinopharm, Astrazeneca, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson/Janssen so that the entire population could access immunization.

According to data from the Ministry of Health and Sport, up to last Sunday 15,231,378 doses were administered between the first, second, third, single dose and fourth dose for different age groups.

Of this total, 6,376,066 first doses were applied to healthcare workers, teachers, the elderly, children, adolescents, over 18 years of age and pregnant women; while 5,178,755 second doses were dispensed; 998,652 single doses; 2,207,652 of the third and 470,253 of the fourth dose.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, over 5.4 million tests have been carried out, of which 358,591 carried out in the first wave (6.6%), 564,177 applied in the second, 1,498,439 in the third, 1,795,481 in the fourth wave and 1,214. 747 in the fifth wave.

The national government executed Bs 3,178 million to contain the Covid-19, Bs 484 million in November-December 2020 and Bs 2,694 million during the 2021 administration. In 2020 (January to October) only 699 were executed million Bs, according to official data.

In the week 46 epidemiological report, drawn up this Monday by Minister Auza, it is noted that the cases of Covid-19 have increased by 57%, going from 211 to 348 positive.

For the minister, the indicators are part of the forecasts and do not represent concern; however, he said that “to maintain these indicators” it is necessary to continue with the vaccination plan.

For this reason, he recommended that the population go to the vaccination points to acquire the respective dose or booster dose.
