The Ministry of Health and Population announced that 60% of breast cancer cases detected early, through the initiative of the President of the Republic to support women’s health, do not require chemotherapy, on the occasion of the coming of “October” Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Ministry of Health noted that the health units of the President’s initiative to support women’s health are present in all governorates of the Republic for free detection and treatment of breast cancer.
The Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Hala Zayed, had reviewed the results of the President’s initiative to support women’s health (100 million health), noting that the number of examinations in the initiative since its launch in July 2019 until today has reached about 8.5 million examinations in the various governorates of the Republic.
Dr. Hala Zayed explained that the initiative is sustainable and targets women nationwide starting from the age of 18 years, and includes detection of non-communicable diseases (diabetes, blood pressure, weight and height measurement and determination of body mass index, level of obesity or overweight), as well as awareness raising On the risk factors for noncommunicable diseases, awareness of reproductive health, family planning and healthy living, and awareness of the method of breast self-examination.
The Minister shed light on the different examination mechanisms through clinical examination, reception in specialized centers, radiology, or pathological analysis, indicating the rate of contraceptive use previously and currently in each governorate, and presented the balances of the various family planning methods at the governorate level, and the average number of children in Every province.
