The head of Navy staff (KSAL) Admiral TNI Yudo Margono said TNI AL soldiers were involved in kidnapping and persecution against civilians to cause one person to die is a violation that must be dealt with firmly.
This was conveyed by Yudo through the Head of the Navy Information Service, Admiral TNI Julius Widjojono during a press conference at the Naval Military Police Headquarters, Head of Gading, North Jakarta.
kSAL, said Julius, even apologized profusely to the community and in particular to the families of the victims of the persecution of six soldiers.
“KSAL is fully aware that this serious violation needs to be dealt with firmly, offending the people and will severely punish the perpetrators,” said Julius during a press conference, Friday (18/6).
Julius said Yudo would not tolerate any of his six soldiers involved in the action.
The violations committed by the soldiers, apart from being disciplinary, were said to have hurt the hearts of the people who believed in the Indonesian Navy soldiers.
“This action is not tolerated at all by Mr. KSAL and his violation is a serious indisciplinary violation and hurts the hearts of the people,” he said.
The six TNI soldiers are currently serving a period of detention at the Indonesian Navy’s Puspomal. The six, said Julius, are still being questioned for their involvement in the persecution.
“And everything will be processed according to applicable law,” Julius said.
On that occasion, Julius also said that after the incident, Yudo had specifically ordered the entire leadership and ranks of the Indonesian Navy not to be involved in any criminal acts. He did not want his soldiers to repeat the mistakes made by these elements.
“Then ordered to increase the hours of the commander,” he said.
Previously, six members of the Navy (AL) were suspected of being involved in the kidnapping and violence against two civilians in the Purwakarta area, West Java. One of the victims is reported to have died.
From the information gathered, two residents were kidnapped and subjected to violence from a number of people in Munjul Jaya Village, Purwakarta District, Purwakarta Regency, West Java, on May 29, 2021.
The perpetrators consisted of a civilian with the initials R and six members of the Indonesian Navy. The six members of the TNI are rowing athletes who train in Jatiluhur, Purwakarta Regency.
Perpetrator R was arrested by the Purwakarta Police on June 15.
Meanwhile, six members of the Indonesian Navy were detained by Denpomal Bandung. The case is under investigation by the Purwakarta Police and Bandung Denpomal.
