The next time you host guests in your home, remember these six tips to make your guests feel comfortable and welcome!
1. Lack of sanitary products/items in the toilet
Always check the amount of toilet paper in the toilet before receiving guests. If something is missing when your guest visits the facilities, they may feel uncomfortable. Also, make sure you have a potty brush in your toilet. You don’t want to put your guest in an awkward situation if they need to use the particular item, but there won’t be one in the toilet!
2. Forced “friendship” with pets
As much as you adore your pet, not all people have warm feelings for cats or dogs. That is why, when welcoming unfamiliar people into your home, avoid introducing them closely (or worse, putting them on your lap or holding them) with pets. Many people may find this unpleasant, frightening or even stressful. Also, do not allow your pet to crawl in places where you usually keep food, for example on the coffee table, it may seem rude and unsanitary to others.
3. Throwing clean or dirty underwear
Your guests don’t need to know everything about you, so it’s a good idea to put your very personal items, such as underwear and recently washed laundry, out of sight before you receive them. Your guests don’t have to look at your clean or dirty panties.
4. Washing dishes during the party
If the host gets up in the middle of dinner to wash the dishes, or panics and grabs a rag when food crumbs fall on the floor, it can make guests feel uncomfortable. They may think that you are blaming them for being clumsy or that you want to get rid of them as soon as possible. Relax and enjoy the party, leave the cleanup for later when the guests are gone.
5. Dirty cutlery
Nowadays, it is rare for anyone to have special dishes that are intended only for moments when guests come to visit. Most often, we serve our guests the dishes and tableware that we use on a daily basis. That is why, before serving plates and cups to guests, make sure that they are perfectly clean. No person will be pleased to be served, for example, a cup with coffee or tea stains.
6. Countless towels in the bathroom
When a person enters someone else’s bathroom for the first time, there are many questions in their head. Where do I wipe my hands? Which towel is the right one? To prevent guests from scratching their heads unnecessarily, place one hand towel near the sink before they enter the bathroom. This way, your guests will immediately know where to wipe their wet hands.
