6 Things to Do If Your Immune is Weak

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia The Covid-19 virus is identical to a person’s immune immunity. It is said, that people with weak immunity will be more susceptible to the corona virus.

An immunologist, namely Dr. Heather Moday (Author; The Immunotype Breakthrough: Your Personalized Plan to Balance Your Immune System, Optimize Health, and Build Lifelong Resilience) reveals that there are four signs that can be used as a basis for seeing how weak your immune system is and how to improve it.

Quoted from CNBC makeIt on Sunday (3/4/2022), here are four signs that someone has a weak immune system:

1. Get sick often and take longer to recover

The first signs of a person having a weakened immune system are often getting sick, but recovering in a longer time than the average person.

If you have a cold that is sneezing and coughing and recover within a week for two or three times a year, then there is no need to worry because it is normal. But if you are sick continuously and last for weeks, it’s a sign that your immune system is weak.

2. Experiencing chronic stress

Another sign that can affect the immune system is when you are under chronic stress. This type of stress usually makes a person feel overwhelmed and anxious himself.

On the one hand, chronic stress can boost the immune system in the short term, but on the other hand it can be bad. Because chronic stress can cause an increase in infections and take longer to recover from the illness.

A study also shows that frequent stress worsens autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and ulcerative colitis and can cause allergic reactions such as eczema and asthma.

3. Often experience thrush or herpes zoster at a young age

A person who often experiences canker sores or is stricken with the herpes zoster virus at a young age indicates that his immune system is weak.

According to research, when the herpes virus enters the body it is in an inactive state. However, when a person is under stress or cellular immunity is weakened, the virus can replicate and reactivate.

If this process occurs then this is a sign that your immune system needs to be boosted.

4. Take drugs that interfere with immunity

Decreased body immunity can occur from the content of drugs taken. One of them comes from drugs used in cancer chemotherapy.

Corticosteroids are an example of a drug commonly used for allergies, asthma, and other inflammatory diseases that are immunosuppressive.

Even the overuse of antibiotics has been shown to impair the diversity of the gut microbiome, which can directly impair immune responses.
