On February 1, Kintetsu Liners announced six new players who will join the university this spring in 2021.
CTB Siosaia Fifita, who made her dream Super Rugby debut at Sunwolves last season and led Tenri University to the first victory as a deputy general, will join Kintetsu. “I’m happy to be able to play again in my favorite Kansai area. I’m still immature, but I’ll do my best every day to make the most of what I have.”
Also, from Teikyo University, rapid WTB Tomoya Kimura will be a member of the Liners. Even though he was a first-year student, he started in the final, which achieved nine consecutive victories in the 2017 university championship. He is a stepper of the threat that became the core of the team, such as recording 14 tries in the 2018 Kanto University competition and shining as the try king. “I am delighted to be able to join a historic team. I would like to work as one to achieve my goals, something that I cannot do on my own.”
Other university graduates include CTB Koji Okamura of Teikyo University, SH Nakamura Tomoya who was a deputy general at Tokai University, HO Matsuda Kazuma who was a deputy general at Ryutsu Keizai University, and PR Fumihiro Toru of Doshisha University. HO Matsuda of Ryutsu Keizai University said, “I am proud to be able to join the traditional Kintetsu Liners that I have seen since I was a child. I am very much looking forward to taking on the challenge in a wonderful environment.”
