While the date of March 26 has emerged as the main option to reschedule the France-Scotland match, the magazine Midi Olympique confides that the president of RC Toulon Bernard Lemaître has opposed it.

Finding a new date for France-Scotland will not be easy. Forced by the spread of the coronavirus within the XV of France, the Six Nations Committee had no choice but to postpone the meeting which was to be played this Sunday at the Stade de France. Since then, the proposals for new dates for the holding of the meeting counting for the third day of the 6 Nations Tournament have multiplied. After having put forward the idea of a weekday programming, Tuesday March 9, the weekend of March 27 and 28 was then discussed. While Bernard Laporte said this Sunday in “Stage 2” wanting “that we collectively find solutions to harm no one”, the task has become singularly complicated. While the manager of the XV of France had confided this Saturday on France 2 wanting “a fair challenge” with the Scots and that “a postponement at the end of March would be ideal”, the date of Friday March 26 has become a credible option. But that was without counting on the Top 14 clubs.

Lemaître does not want an additional duplicate

According to magazine information Olympic noon, the fragile consensus that seemed to form around this date of March 26 could be shattered. The responsible for this situation is, says the magazine, Bernard Lemaître. The president of RC Toulon, through an email sent to all the presidents of the Top 14 clubs, confirmed his opposition to the holding of France-Scotland on Friday March 26, refusing to authorize the 6 Nations Tournament to occupy an additional date, which would mean one more duplication for all professional clubs. Always according to Olympic noon, the Tournament broadcaster, France Télévisions, has put on the table a proposal that would schedule France-Scotland on Saturday March 17 with a kick-off at 5.45 p.m.… which was immediately dismissed by the coaches of the Top 14 clubs. While a meeting is scheduled very quickly to end the uncertainty, another idea would lead to the XV of France playing twice in five days, the match against Scotland then being played on Thursday, March 25. Matching the interests of all parties will not be easy …
