Here is the question who you! Where to eat the best welsh in Lille and its surroundings? An eternal question which animates the debates of the northerners on the web as in real life. At Lille CityCrunch, we are even the type to eat welsh in the summer so as we have been lugging our stomachs around the city, we have finally started to suggest places where you will not be disappointed.
Ranking of readers
Georges V
He is at the top of all the welsh rankings (and by Lille CityCrunch readers)! The Georges V is however a place which does not look like much. Located behind the Palais des Beaux-Arts, this bar has found the magic recipe and offers it at a low price. Ideal for having good tables with friends, in good franquette fashion!
???? 104 bis boulevard de la Liberté – Lille
???? Open from Tuesday to Saturday / midday and evening
Ilot bar
The Ilot Bar, restaurant located rue Nationale in Lille was acclaimed by Lille CityCrunch readers for its welsh! So, we came to check it out and we have to admit that the welsh is worth the detour. Here, we have the choice between two versions. A classic for reasonable appetites (and you come out of the table without wanting to take a nap) and a more greedy in XL version.
???? 253 rue Nationale – Lille
???? Open Monday to Saturday / midday and evening
The brocantine
We end the selection with a monument of the welsh, that of the Brocantine ! Highly recommended by Lille CityCrunch readers, the Brocantine welsh has been a safe bet for years. But to taste it, you have to earn it. Going up to Cysoing … And wait for the weekend since this second-hand restaurant only opens its catering service from Friday. (See our article on Brocantine here)
???? 266 rue Roger Salengro – Cysoing
???? Open Friday and Saturday evening / Sunday lunch
The essentials of Lille CityCrunch
The Companions of the Grappe
With 3 different welsh (complete, without egg or without ham), you will inevitably find your pleasure to the Companions of the Grappe ! Located on the edge of Vieux-Lille, a stone’s throw from the Grand Place, this restaurant is a Lille institution where you can find all the specialties of the North. So as much to tell you that here, we do not joke with the welsh! (see our article on the Compagnons de la Grappe here)
???? 26 rue Lepelletier – Old Lille
???? Open every day for lunch and dinner
A dog in a bowling game
Located in Mouvaux, A dog in a bowling game is a total reference! A colorful restaurant that has made welsh its specialty. 350g of cheddar cheese, mustard bread and dark beer cooking (without egg). A pure happiness ! We appreciated the rather liquid texture (but not too much) and rather surprisingly, we did not want to put in PLS at the end of the plate! And then the place looks like a flea market with lots of nuggets… (See our article on A dog in a bowling game here)
???? 104 rue de Lille – Mouvaux
???? Open from Tuesday to Saturday / midday and evening
Flanders
Must go in Flanders, in the center of Croix, to find this little welsh wonder. A family brewery where we found the right recipe, all accompanied by very good beers and a conviviality specific to the spirit of the North. Yes, sometimes you have to think outside the box … (See our article on Flanders here)
???? 1 rue Jean Jaurès – Croix
???? Open Monday to Saturday for lunch
We are waiting for other addresses where the welsh is worth the detour !!!
