A man living in Calgary, Canada has just learned the hard way that it is not a good thing to turn to revenge porn to settle scores with his ex. The man in question posted his ex-girlfriend’s sextape on the internet and also said that she is an easygoing girl and has a sexually transmitted disease. This action did not go unnoticed in court since the man ended up being sentenced to 6 months in prison.
According to reports, Judge Karim Jivraj agreed with prosecutor Martha O’Connor to say that the publication of intimate images on the web has become a major problem at the level of society. As a result, Jivraj rejected the appeal of defense lawyer Alain Hepner, who asked that his client not be put in prison. Hepner wanted the latter to receive a sentence that would allow him to work for the community or, at a pinch, an intermittent sentence of three months in prison that he could spend on weekends.

For his part, prosecutor O’Connor requested a sentence of nine months in prison followed by a period of probation. But in the end, the judge stopped at 6 months in prison plus a 12-month probation period. It is known that the accused pleaded guilty to having shared intimate images without the consent of the victim.
How the affair started
The story began in April 2018 when the man decided to upload an intimate video of the victim to an adult site without the victim knowing. The video in question showed her having sex with him. The latter’s face was hidden, but you could clearly identify his face.
From what we know, she had agreed to be filmed but she made it clear that the recording should remain secret.
A month before the private video was posted, the man had already written comments about the victim on the thedirty.com website. He disclosed personal information about his ex-girlfriend, including where he worked and a photo of her. He also suggested that she led a life of debauchery and had a sexually transmitted disease.

Victim impact statements
Faced with this personal attack perpetrated by her ex, the victim indicated that she felt devastated when her nephews discovered the video and the comments on her. In front of the judge, she said that she was still recovering from the shame and embarrassment of knowing that her nephew found her on thedirty.com, and also that her other nephew and his girlfriend saw the video on Pornhub.
