6 Intake of Vitamins and Minerals that Children Need

Make sure the child gets nutrition right in the diet is the desire of every parent. Apart from growing strong bones, proper nutrition also builds an immune system that can ward off viruses.

Since many children tend to be picky eaters, there is more reason to make sure they are getting enough vitamins in their diet to stay healthy.

1. Calcium

Calcium is very important for building healthy bones and teeth of children. This is not only important during the months of formative growth but also for building reserves due to possible bone loss in the following years.

Little is known, calcium also plays an important role in blood clotting and optimal function of nerves, muscles and heart.

To ensure that your child gets enough calcium in their diet, including foods such as milk, cheese, yogurt, eggs, broccoli, spinach and tofu.

2.Folic acid (folate)

3. Iron

Children need seven to 10 mg of iron daily to maintain healthy blood that carries oxygen to cells throughout the body. This is especially important for children during a period of accelerated growth for healthy muscle blood cells.

Iron deficiency can cause a lot of problems with your child’s growth, so if you notice symptoms of iron deficiency anemia in your children such as regular fatigue, fast heartbeat, sore or swollen tongue or an enlarged spleen.

For children showing signs of iron deficiency, be sure to include red meat, poultry, shellfish, nuts, fortified bread and cereals in their diet as these foods are excellent sources of iron.
