Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

For some people, instead of being fun, sex it can trigger a variety disease, both physical and psychological.

Some of these disorders are influenced by various things, from mood conditions to hygiene factors. Often the resulting physical distress discourages a person from having sex.

Starting from stabbing headaches to flu-like symptoms, here are some physical and psychological illnesses or disorders that are triggered by sex. Everyday Health.

1. A stabbing headache

For some people, sex can trigger headaches. The National Headache Foundation (NHF) says, there are two types of heads that are associated with sexual activity, especially during orgasm.

In the first type, sexual stimulation causes muscle contractions in the head and neck that trigger headaches. Most headaches of this type are benign. Generally, these headaches are susceptible to people who often experience migraines. However, in some cases, it could be a sign of abnormalities in the brain or other diseases.

The second type is called an ‘orgasmic headache’. The latter is a very intense vascular headache and usually occurs right before orgasm. These headaches generally occur in response to the body’s increase in blood pressure and last for several minutes.

2. Dysphoria postcoital

A small study published in International Journal of Sexual Health said, a third of women admitted they were often gloomy after sex sessions or dysphoria postcoital.

Post-sex depression is characterized by feelings of sadness, anxiety, irritability, or anxiety. These emotions can also be triggered by feelings of anxiety about the relationship.

3. Allergy to semen

Some women are allergic to semen. Although relatively rare, semen is known to change the pH balance of the female sex organs, resulting in irritation, itching and swelling.

Gynecologist Paula Bednarek advises you to use condoms during sex to avoid these allergies.

4. Post-orgasm disease syndrome

Have you ever experienced flu-like symptoms, a heavy head, muscle aches, and fatigue after sex? If so, you have post-orgasm disease syndrome (POIS).

POIS was first identified in 2002. This condition tends to be more common in men after ejaculation. A study published in Translational Andrology and Urology indicates that POIS is triggered by an autoimmune reaction to the semen itself.

5. Urinary tract infection

Urinary tract infections are generally characterized by pain when urinating. “Some women are more prone to UTIs,” said Bednarek. Sexual activity is called introducing bacteria into the female urinary tract.

If you experience this, try to urinate immediately after sex. This can remove unwanted bacteria from your urethra.

6. Yeast infection

The human body naturally contains yeast. Bednarek said, yeast infection in women is most likely triggered by changes in the pH of the semen. “Hormonal changes can also make women susceptible to yeast infections,” he said.

Yeast infection is not a sexually transmitted disease. This disease is characterized by symptoms of itching, irritation, and painful sex.
