6 Chinese Companies Blacklisted by US Related to Spy Balloon Program

Washington DC

Department of Trade United States of America (US) included six companies China blacklisted (blacklist) over the spy balloon program, one of which was shot down by Washington last week.

The blacklisted companies are seen as supporting China’s military modernization efforts, especially those related to aerospace programs such as aerial vehicles and blimps.

As reported AFPSaturday (11/2/2023), the move was announced a day after US lawmakers unanimously condemned the use spy balloon by China. US fighter jets shot down a Chinese spy balloon over the coast of South Carolina last Saturday (4/2).

The blacklisted companies, or the so-called Entity List, are prohibited from acquiring US goods and technology without official government approval.

China’s use of high-altitude balloons violates our sovereignty and threatens US national security,” said US Deputy Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security, Alan Estevez, in a statement.

“Today’s actions make it clear that entities seeking to endanger US national security and sovereignty will be cut off from access to US technology,” Estevez said on Friday (10/2) local time.

The Chinese companies included in the US blacklist consist of Beijing Nanjiang Aerospace Technology Co., China Electronics Technology Group Corporation 48th Research Institute, then Dongguan Lingkong Remote Sensing Technology Co.

The other three companies include Eagles Men Aviation Science and Technology Group Co, then Guangzhou Tian-Hai-Xiang Aviation Technology Co, and Shanxi Eagles Men Aviation Science and Technology Group Co.
