6 bad habits that destroy the brain

The brain is known to control our food, breathing and sleep, the ability to think, fall in love and argue. Unfortunately, there are some habits that may seem harmless at first glance, but destroy it and prevent it from fully functioning, according to gerontologists.

The Russian media quoted Dr. Vladimir Khavinson and Dr. Svetlana Trofimova of geriatrics saying that most of our daily habits negatively affect the brain.

So what are those habits that affect the brain?

1- sleep

The two doctors suggest that sleeping eight hours a day is to prevent neurodegenerative brain diseases. And people who sleep less are at greater risk for accelerated aging and impaired brain function.

2 – water

A person should drink at least 1.5 liters of pure water. Because water makes up 80% of the brain. Water also helps improve cell functioning. Drinking a glass of water half an hour before meals is a good and beneficial habit. Drinking small amounts of water negatively affects overall health.

3- Drink sugar tea with sweets

The high level of sugar in the blood suppresses the functions of the pancreas and can stimulate the development of diabetes, because under the influence of sugar in the body a large number of free radicals appear that can damage the structure of the brain and transmit nerve impulses. According to the recommendations of the World Health Organization, a person should consume no more than six teaspoons of sugar per day.

4- Using headphones

Noise negatively affects the brain. Because loud sound damages the auditory receptors, which are connected to the brain, let alone focus the sound directly on the ears.

5- Anxiety and nervousness for trivial reasons

According to Dr. Vladimir Khavinson, the most important personality traits are indulgence and tolerance, because cortisol, which is called the stress hormone, destroys us.

6 – lack of movement

A sedentary lifestyle also damages the brain. Because during exercise, special substances are created in the muscles that help in the synthesis of neurotrophic factors in the brain, which in turn contribute to the acceleration of the transmission of nerve impulses. The brain works best when we exercise.

7- Don’t eat breakfast

It is best to have breakfast within 1.5 hours of waking up. For example, oatmeal porridge contains a high percentage of zinc and the amino acid tryptophan, which makes up melatonin.
