They had refused to pay the bill of almost 13,000 euros in a restaurant in Ibiza, the pearl of the Balearics, with the excuse that they had been invited by a friend, who left when it was time to pay. But the police officers didn’t buy it and immediately arrested the six tourists on charges of fraud. Those arrested, the police reported in a statement, are a 77-year-old British man and five women aged between 24 and 39, two of whom are Argentine, two Polish and one Greek.
The restaurant managers called the police after the group refused to pay the hefty bill of around €12,300 for the dinner, during which they had consumed the best products accompanied by expensive wines and spirits.
When it was time to pay, the six customers refused to pay the amount due, claiming that they were there at the invitation of a seventh diner, who had left shortly before without explanation. A practice known in Spain as a ‘sin pa’, running away from the table without paying. The complaint was filed immediately, with subsequent arrests, after the investigations of the case by the police.
