6.3 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Central Sulawesi, No Tsunami Potential

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 struck Central Sulawesi on Saturday (9/9) at 21.43 WIB according to detection by the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The location of the earthquake was 50 km northwest of Donggala, Central Sulawesi, precisely at 0.03 N, 119.80 E. The depth of the earthquake is estimated at 10 km.

BMKG stated that this earthquake did not have the potential for a tsunami.

Careful recommendations must be issued regarding aftershocks that may occur.
