A strong earthquake of 6.1 on the Richter scale occurred this morning near the Greek island of Karpathos by the Dodecanese group, ANA-MPA reported.
The quake was registered at 8:32 in the sea. According to the Institute of Geodynamics of the Greek National Observatory, the epicenter was 127 km southeast of the city of Karpathos.
The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center estimates the magnitude of the earthquake at 5.9.
No injuries or damage have been reported so far.

A strong earthquake in the same area off the Turkish Mediterranean coast was also reported by the Turkish Disaster Management Agency, quoted by the Associated Press.
According to the agency, the quake had a magnitude of 6 on Ritter, 155 km from the resort town of Kas in Antalya district.
