584 students from the Sainte-Marthe institute ran for the Ela association in Draguignan

Schoolchildren and university students from the Sainte-Marthe institute lined up en masse yesterday at the Léo-Lagrange stadium, behind the starting line to participate in the Ela race “Put on your sneakers and beat the disease”. The Ela association, which carries out research on leukodystrophies, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Behind her, the entire educational community of Ste-Marthe shows an intact determination to support them for seven years now.

More than 8,000 euros in 2021

Last year this action raised the tidy sum of 8,200 euros! It was therefore renewed with the same system for collecting the notebooks given to the students. The 226 schoolchildren and 358 university students pledged, for every euro raised, to run a tour of the stadium. “Students run, they do it with their hearts. They have nothing to gain”, Christophe Da Silva, principal of secondary school, slips. “The motivation is there, it grows every year”acknowledges Anne Clavaud, head of the first degree institute.

The weather was good, managers, teachers, children and parents wetted their shirts all day with the ambition to do even better this year. Sweat, encouragement and the feeling of accomplishment upon arrival. That of supporting sick children.
