REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKANBARU — The Regional Commission for Post-Immunization Adverse Events (KIPI) of Riau Province noted that 56 local residents experienced various symptoms and reactions from the program. Covid-19 vaccination which has been implemented since January 2021 in the area. “During the implementation of the Covid-19 vaccination in Riau Province, we have received reports of 56 AEFI cases,” said Head of the Regional Commission (Komda) for Post-Immunization Adverse Events (KIPI) of Riau Province, Dr Ligat Pribadi in Pekanbaru, Friday (18/6). .
He said, out of 56 cases KIPI who entered the Riau KIPI Komda, after the classification, 49 cases were declared as mild AEFI cases. “While the other seven cases are classified as severe or serious AEFI. Of these seven severe AEFI cases, two have died,” he said.
Ligat said that of the seven cases of severe AEFI, apart from the two who died, there is currently one more patient who is still being treated at a private hospital in Pekanbaru. Then the other four had recovered.
Meanwhile, two patients who died after a week of being vaccinated were residents of Indragiri Hulu and residents of Rokan Hulu. They died after a few days of being injected with the Sinovac type of Covid-19 vaccine.
Before dying, the two residents had complained of fever and convulsions after being vaccinated. “After being vaccinated, as usual they were asked for 30 minutes, after that they were only allowed to go home, after returning this patient had no complaints,” said dr. Ligat Pribadi. Previously, the Head of the Riau Provincial Health Office, Mimi Yuliani Nazir, explained that the two residents who died were not due to the influence of the vaccine, but had a history of other diseases.
