Hagenbuch ZH55-year-old cyclist seriously injured in accident

On Monday morning there was a collision between a car and a bicycle in Hagenbuch. The cyclist was seriously injured and had to be taken to hospital.

Serious accident in Hagenbuch ZH: According to the Zurich Cantonal Police, shortly after 6 a.m. a 55-year-old man was riding his bicycle on Schneiterstrasse from Hagenbuch towards Oberschneit. At the same time, a motorist, also 55 years old, was riding on the road in the same direction.

For reasons that are still unclear, a collision occurred, and the cyclist sustained serious injuries. The rescue service from the Winterthur Cantonal Hospital was dispatched together with an emergency doctor and, after providing initial treatment, took the injured man to a hospital.

The accident report was made by the Zurich cantonal police and the circumstances of the accident are being investigated together with the Winterthur/Unterland public prosecutor’s office. Schneiterstrasse had to be closed temporarily because of the accident. The Eulachtal fire department set up a diversion.

Also on Sunday afternoon, a 46-year-old cyclist suffered serious injuries in a fall on Rifferswilerstrasse in Hausen am Albis ZH. According to the Zurich cantonal police, he had to be taken to hospital by rescue helicopter.

The police are looking for witnesses: Anyone who can provide relevant information about the accident is asked to contact the Zurich Cantonal Police, Urdorf Traffic Unit, telephone 058 648 66 90.
