As part of the National Action Plan for Risk Reduction and Sustainable Use of Plant Protection Products (AP PSM), the plant protection product exposure of terrestrial stages of amphibians and possible management measures are to be developed.
In a research project (a collaboration between Agroscope, info fauna karch and the University of Zurich), a field study is to investigate how amphibians use arable land. For this purpose, artificial hiding places are laid out and these are then checked regularly. The animals found are weighed and photographed. The field work takes place during the whole summer half of the year. At the same time, the photos are evaluated. The intern works with the research assistant, organizes material, sets up the field study and collects data.
Your tasks
- Development of the field study in cooperation with the research assistant
- Regular control of the artificial hiding places, even in bad weather conditions and, if necessary, on weekends and / or public holidays
- Surveying and photography of the amphibians
- Transfer of the results within the further project team and exchange with agricultural practice
- Evaluation of the data and writing of a report and presentations of the work
your profile
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, agronomy or a related field completed in the last twelve months
- Knowledge of amphibians, possibly also plant protection products (PPPs)
- Interest in agricultural science topics and practice-oriented research
- Responsible handling of wild animals, ideally training in animal research
- Independent and solution-oriented way of working
- Driving license cat. B
- Knowledge of two official languages and English (working languages are German and English)
