54 Deaths in Balia District of Uttar Pradesh: Not Due to High Temperature, Investigation Committee Finds

New Delhi – A member of the investigation committee said that 54 people died in Balia district of Uttar Pradesh in 3 days not due to high temperature. 54 people died in the district and around 400 people were hospitalized. The doctors who treated them said that the cause of death was many, but high heat was also the cause. But the senior doctor from Lucknow, who is leading the investigation committee, rejected the argument that heat could be the cause of death.

“Prima facie none of the deaths can be attributed to heat. Although similar diseases are also found in neighboring districts, no deaths have been reported there. Most people’s first symptom is chest pain, which is never the first symptom of overheating,” said senior doctor AK Singh. ,

AK Singh informed that these deaths can sometimes be related to water. It should also be investigated whether the cause is water or something else. He also informed that the meteorological department has arrived to check.

In the morning, the doctor of the rank of Chief Medical Superintendent of Balia was removed from his post. The action came after his statement that high temperature could be the cause of death. UP Health Minister Brajesh Pathak responded that he was removed for making such statements without getting accurate information.

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav accused the UP government of negligence for the deaths in Ballia.
