5,378 new corona infections, number of hospital patients decreases | Inland

The number of deaths from corona increased by 42 in the last 24 hours. That does not mean that all these people died in the past 24 hours. If a corona patient dies, this is sometimes only passed on after a while.

Amsterdam had the highest number of positive tests. In the capital the virus was diagnosed in 308 inhabitants. Rotterdam has 217 new cases and The Hague 155. Eindhoven (99) and Tilburg (82) will follow.

Since the start of the outbreak, just over a year ago, more than 1.1 million Dutch people have tested positive. The number of deaths could top 16,000 over the course of next week. The actual numbers of infections and corona deaths are higher.

Hospitals

The number of corona patients in hospitals, on the other hand, is declining for the fourth day in a row. The total number of patients admitted with Covid-19 is now 1,863, 48 fewer than Friday. 542 of them are in intensive care, reports the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS).

In the past 24 hours, 212 new corona patients have been admitted to hospitals, 12 fewer than Friday. 36 of them have been admitted to the IC, 3 less than Friday.

Over the past 24 hours, the LCPS has moved 9 corona patients to hospitals in other regions.

Last week, the coordination center moved the 2,500th patient during the second corona wave. Since September 21, 2020, an average of 15.5 corona patients per day have been moved to hospitals in other regions.

The number of patients with Covid-19 is almost the same as three weeks ago, says LCPS. “There is unchanged a stable picture with limited fluctuation over time. We expect that the British variant of the coronavirus will take over and the number of patients in hospitals will increase in the coming period, ”according to the LCPS.
