A 53-year-old woman tragically lost her life after being hit by two cars while crossing a street in the Bronx. One of the drivers fled.
According to the New York Police, the incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, at the intersection of Melrose Avenue and East 157th Street.
Authorities obtained video from a surveillance camera, and judging by the images, the victim had crossed half of the street. She then allegedly stopped to wait for the other part of the road to be clear, but she was fatally struck.
She was first hit by a white truck driving north, and then by a gray Jeep Wrangler. The driver of the second vehicle, 53, stayed at the scene, but the driver of the white truck fled the scene.
Witnesses told local media that the woman was heading to a warehouse, just one block from her house, when the fatal accident occurred.
The NYPD continues to investigate and search for the other driver. They have not reported whether there could be charges.
