Last Wednesday, January 31, a 53-year-old man – who worked as a caregiver – was caught raping a sedated patient. The suspect is the subject of an indictment for “rape and sexual assault on a vulnerable person”, as explained by our colleagues at nice morning. It was a nurse who raised the alarm. He had doubts about the behavior of his work colleague for several years. The nurse caught the caregiver raping the patient in the intensive care unit, before filming him. Initially, the suspect – placed in police custody – denied the facts. But the fifty-year-old was confronted with the images that were filmed. Still according to our colleagues, the caregiver had been working night shifts in the intensive care unit of Pasteur hospital for at least ten years.
His colleagues began to have some suspicions about his behavior in 2019, for similar facts, without ever managing to gather enough evidence to charge the fifty-year-old. An investigation was opened and entrusted to the criminal brigade of the Alpes-Maritimes Departmental Security. The question will be whether other people were victims of the caregiver.
