That 54% of remote workers in Latin America feel more freedom to be themselves, but 48% feel more isolated at work, socially, compared to the world average.

These are some of the results of the annual Labor Trends Index that Microsoft Corp. announced on the new era of work.

The report titled The next paradigm is hybrid work advises business leaders to avoid equating hybrid work with work as we understood it before, and instead rethinking and rethinking ingrained preconceptions about it.

“The choices you make today will impact your organizations for years to come. These moments require a clear vision and a growth mindset, ”says Jared Spataro, corporate vice president for Microsoft 365.

And he adds: “These decisions will impact everything, from how they shape your business culture, how they attract and retain talent, even how they promote collaboration and innovation more efficiently ”.

These are the trends that will define the 2021 labor market in Ecuador

The report mentions that the 53% of workers in Latin America have considered a career change during the year; 49% say their interactions with coworkers have decreased and the 42% who feel overworked.

“During the pandemic we have seen a rapid acceleration of certain pre-COVID trends. But perhaps one of the most exciting trends is the rise of telecommuting. As the remote work opportunity and talent movement democratizes, we will see an expansion of skills across the country. This is the time for business leaders to seize the opportunity to access different skills and talents that were previously unavailable to them, ”said Karin Kimbrough, chief economist at LinkedIn.

Meanwhile, the report also reveals the seven trends in hybrid work:

  1. Flexible work is here to stay.
  2. Leaders are not in contact with employees: they need a wake-up call.
  3. High productivity masks an exhausted workforce.
  4. Generation Z is at risk, it will be necessary to reactivate it.
  5. Downsizing networks jeopardize innovation.
  6. Authenticity will stimulate productivity and well-being.
  7. In a hybrid world of work, talent is everywhere.

This Employment Trends Index identifies five strategies business leaders can consider:

• Create a plan to encourage your employees to have extreme flexibility.

• Invest in spaces and technology to unite the physical and digital worlds.

• Fight digital exhaustion from above.

• Give priority to rebuilding social capital and business culture.

• Rethink the employee experience to compete for the best and most diverse talents. (I)
