JawaPos.com– Tangerang District Health Bureau (Dinkes) reports, from January to November 2022, 522 residents were recorded as suffering from active infectious diseases of HIV/AIDS.

“522 cases were recorded from January to November,” said Tangerang District Health Bureau Disease Prevention and Control Chief Sumihar Sihaloho, as quoted by Between in Tangerang.

“It’s just that last year there was a Covid-19 pandemic, there were restrictions on activities so that the tracking of HIV/AIDS cases didn’t work optimally,” said Sumihar Sihaloho.

He explained, for HIV/AIDS patients in general, the greatest number of sufferers was experienced by the male group of productive ages between 25 and 49, with a total of 284 people. For the group of women with an average productive age suffering from infectious diseases, there were 79 people.

“For the sick from the young children group, most of them were infected from their mother placenta or mother’s milk. Therefore, pregnant women are obliged selection and an HIV test was done by examination triple elimination for prevention and mother-to-child transmission,” explained Sumihar Sihaloho.

However, according to him, with the large number of HIV/AIDS patients, the Tangerang regency government continues to make efforts to suppress and control it by socializing HIV prevention, intervention, stigma and discrimination.

“Go ahead, do it selection regularly in at-risk population groups, collaborating with cross-sectoral, advocacy and awareness-raising communities in HIV prevention,” said Sumihar Sihaloho.
