52,000 euro fine for tired truck driver

OBERKRÄMER – A Romanian truck driver who was checked by German officials on the German A10 on Monday morning is expected to receive a fine of 52,000 euros. During the study it was noted with a particularly high number of violations in driving and rest periods. The driver, who was clearly tired, was ordered to rest immediately at the checkpoint. There has also been criticism of the AdBlue system not working on the tractor.

In collaboration with experts from various supervisory authorities, officers carried out traffic control on Monday, September 30 between 8 am and 12 pm with a focus on waste transport.

A number of administrative violations against waste legislation, social regulations, road transport legislation, as well as overloading and technical defects were found in a total of 79 vehicles inspected.

A van driver who was 38 per cent overweight and another van driver who was deemed unsafe for traffic by an expert also had to stop their journey.

As usual, for the safety of the officers involved, the maximum permitted speed was reduced to 40 km/h. It was found that 174 drivers were driving too fast. The fastest car driver drove at a speed of 110 km/h.
