Rülzheim (ots)
On February 10, 2024, at around 3:30 a.m., police officers subjected a 52-year-old cyclist to a traffic stop in the Rülzheim area due to a light that was not switched on. During the check it turned out that the man was clearly intoxicated; the breath alcohol test showed a value of just under 1.3 per mille. Since the e-bike used by the accused reached a speed of 40 km/h, additional insurance coverage and a corresponding insurance license plate were required. However, since the man was unable to provide either, he now has to face criminal charges for drunk driving and violating the compulsory insurance law. The accused was able to show the class AM driving license required for use, but this was confiscated due to the assumed absolute inability to drive.
