Together with the two member municipalities of Ansfelden and Kirchschlag, almost 568,000 overnight stays were counted, according to Linz Tourism Director Georg Steiner. It was noticeable that the guest structure had shifted: in the past, business and congress trips accounted for a significant proportion of overnight stays, but now there is a clear shift towards leisure guests.
“Linz is Linz’ video didn’t harm Linz”
The majority of visitors come from Austria, followed by Germany, Poland, Hungary, Switzerland and Italy. According to a current IMAS study, the advertising video “Linz is Linz”, which was much discussed last year, did not harm Linz, says Steiner. Almost 60 percent praised the video, which reached around 1.4 million people, and described it as “eye-catching and modern”.
Focus this year on “Women”
This year, the focus of Linz tourism is on “women”, meaning that the aim is to concentrate on historical and current achievements, ideas and visions of women in Linz. The Visit Linz mobile app has also been redesigned and now offers special tours, quizzes and scavenger hunts.
