Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Ministry of Health (Ministry of Health) revealed as many as 51 corona virus patients (Covid-19) varian Omicron in Indonesia have received two injections of vaccine doses.
There were 6 omicron patients who had not received two doses of the vaccine and 7 had not been injected with the vaccine at all.
“51 people complete vaccination, 6 incomplete vaccines [satu dosis], 7 have not been vaccinated at all, and 4 still do not know,” said the Ministry of Health’s Director of Prevention and Control of Directly Infectious Diseases (P2PML) Siti Nadia Tarmizi to CNNIndonesia.com, Thursday (30/12).
Currently, dozens of patients infected with Omicron are still undergoing treatment at the Wisma Atlet Kemayoran Hospital and some at the Sulianti Saroso Hospital, North Jakarta.
The majority of them have no symptoms. Others experience mild symptoms such as cough, runny nose, and low-grade fever.
Nadia then concluded that the Omicron-infected patient who did not experience moderate-severe symptoms showed that the Covid-19 vaccine was still effective to ward off COVID-19 as well as the new variants that emerged.
“This means that we can convey that the vaccine given has a protective effect on symptoms of severe illness and death,” he said.
So far, there have been 68 positive cases of the Omicron variant of the corona virus in Indonesia.
The majority are 60 Indonesian citizens who have just returned from abroad, 7 foreigners, and one case of local transmission in DKI Jakarta.
Most of the cases came from international travelers from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States.
While the other cases were from citizens who had just returned from Japan, Kenya, South Korea, Malawi, Malaysia, Nigeria, Congo, Spain, Ukraine and Ireland.
