With a 5-1 derby win against the U20s of 1. FC Köln, Fortuna Cologne took the lead in the table after the 7th matchday in the Women’s Regional League West. 18 of 21 possible points are recorded.
League newcomers DJK Wacker Mecklenbeck are still level on points with the Domstadt team after their 1-0 away win at Vorwärts Spoho Köln. Also on a foreign pitch, 1. FFC Recklinghausen had the upper hand 3-1 at DJK Südwest Köln.
The U21 team from SGS Essen won 5-1 against SSV Rhade and thus moved into the top half of the table, as did the second team from Borussia Mönchengladbach, who won the youth duel against the U23 team from Bayer 04 Leverkusen 3-1 in front of their own audience.
Two games did not take place as planned. Alemannia Aachen did not play against Arminia Bielefeld due to a lack of staff. The home game between VfR Schwarz-Weiß Warbeyen 1945 against FSV Gütersloh 2009 II was also canceled at short notice because the guests from East Westphalia were caught in a complete closure on the A2 motorway on their journey and were therefore unable to arrive in Kleve on time. The game has already been rescheduled for Saturday, November 23rd, from 6 p.m.
Borussia Mönchengladbach 2 – Bayer 04 Leverkusen U23 3:1 (0:0)
Borussia Mönchengladbach’s second team once again underlined their home strength. After the 3:1 (0:0) against Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s U23s, coach Mareike Visser’s team achieved ten out of twelve possible points after four games in front of their own crowd. Selin Disli (50th), Kristina Birmes (59th) and Sadiat Babatunde (72nd) gave the “Fohlen” a 3-0 lead before Melina Kim Weidenfeller (90th + 2) reduced the deficit for the guests from Leverkusen.
Fortuna Cologne – 1. FC Cologne U20 5:1 (3:1)
The new leaders Fortuna Cologne secured their sixth victory in the seventh game of the season with a 5:1 (3:1) win in the city duel with the U20 of 1. FC Köln. Double goalscorer Paula Petri (9th/23rd) as well as Fabienne Patrice Meder (42nd), Vivien Schwing (67th) and Sophie Trepohl (78th) were on the top scorer list for the hosts. Emma Marie Lattus (28th) scored the 2-1 goal for FC.
SGS Essen U21 – SSV Rhade 5:1 (1:0)
The SGS Essen U21s remained undefeated in their fourth league game in a row. With the 5:1 (1:0) against SSV Rhade, coach Fabian Franz’s team secured ten out of twelve possible points in this phase (with 11:2 goals) and climbed to sixth place in the table. Louisa Müggenburg (12th) brought the SGS to winning ways during the first half. After the break, Yaren Erkan (61′), substitutes Rieke Sterner (62′), Emilia Eltgen (66′) and Melina Koffler (74′) increased the score before Maike Sicking (89′) scored the only goal the guests succeeded.
DJK Südwest Cologne – 1. FFC Recklinghausen 1:3 (0:1)
1. FFC Recklinghausen secured three important points in a 3-1 (1-0) win against league newcomers DJK Südwest Köln. Vanessa Anna Kniszewski (11th, penalty kick), Larissa Kiara Henkel (55th) and Katharina Prinz (76th) made the first away win of the current season perfect. For the DJK Südwest Köln, Julia Geisler (84th) scored the final score when she was outnumbered. Substitute Georgia Rafaila Tsopoulidis from Cologne had previously seen a yellow-red card (70th).
Forward Spoho Cologne – DJK Wacker Mecklenbeck 0:1 (0:1)
Newly promoted DJK Wacker Mecklenbeck is still level on points with the top of the table in the Women’s Regional League West. The 1-0 (1-0) at Vorwärts Spoho Cologne was the fifth win in a row for coach Felix Melchers’ team. Jasmin Jabbes (19th) made the guests from Münster cheer during the first half. Only the goal difference, which is six goals worse, separates DJK Wacker from league leaders Fortuna Cologne, who have the same number of points (18 points each from seven games).
