London: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is reported to have taken foreign trips on Swakarajet using people’s tax money. Last year, Rishi Sunak reportedly spent 500,000 Euros (roughly Rs. 4,46,67,292) on overseas trips that were only weeks apart.
The opposition has accused the prime minister of spending tax money at a time when people are in dire straits due to the sharp increase in the cost of living in Britain. The Liberal Democrats have accused Conservative governments of once again proving that they are out of touch with the people.
The British government paid 108,000 euros for Rishi Sunak to attend the COP27 summit on November 6. The Guardian newspaper reported that Rishi Sunak flew to Egypt in a private jet on November 6 and returned the same day. A week later, the British Prime Minister also went to participate in the G20 summit held in Bali, Indonesia. The trip cost 340,000 Euros. He spent €62,498 on trips to Latvia and Estonia in December, and spent €2,500 out of his own pocket.
Meanwhile, the British Parliament responded that Sunak’s trip was with world leaders and could not be avoided.
